How Are Same-Day Crowns Made?

A dentist will use a digital impression scanner, which both scans and shapes the tooth's enamel to prepare it for restoration. The crown will be designed based on that digital scan of your tooth. It will then be created out of a ceramic or porcelain material in a milling chamber. Several layers of material will be placed into the milling machine to create the finished restoration. Once complete, the crown will be polished to remove any imperfections and then bonded to your tooth.
